)Overview
The missing Library button for Chromium. Manage Bookmarks, History, Closed Tabs, and more in a unified, native-style menu.
Alexandria adds the missing Library menu to Chromium. If you miss Firefox’s Library button, Alexandria gives Chrome and other Chromium browsers a cleaner way to work with your browsing memory. Bookmarks, history, recently closed tabs, tab tools, Read Later items, search, themes, and settings live in one fast popup instead of being scattered across separate browser pages. What Alexandria does: • Unified Library popup Open bookmarks, history, recently closed tabs and windows, tab tools, Read Later, settings, and more from one native-style menu. • Omni-Search Search bookmarks, history, and Read Later items from a single search box. Alexandria supports normal search and regex search, including simple patterns like github.*api and /pattern/flags syntax. • Bookmarks and history Browse and search your bookmarks and history without opening the full browser managers. • Session recovery Quickly reopen recently closed tabs and windows. Useful when you close the wrong tab, lose a window, or recover after a browser restart. • Smart bookmarking Bookmark or remove the current tab with one click, with clear visual feedback. • Read Later Shelf Save pages you want to read soon without turning them into permanent bookmarks. The shelf supports up to 60 items, context-menu save/remove actions, optional toolbar badge count, and search from Omni-Search. • Tab tools Mute tabs, sort tabs, and keep messy windows under control from the popup. • Custom menu ordering Reorder Alexandria’s main menu with drag and drop so the tools you use most are where you want them. • Keyboard support Open Alexandria with Ctrl+Shift+L, or Cmd+Shift+L on Mac. Use the arrow keys to move through the menu and Enter to select. • Themes Choose light mode, dark mode, or follow your system theme. • International support Alexandria supports English, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, and Thai. • Optional Sync Profile Alexandria is local-first by default. If you want more control over syncing Alexandria settings and Read Later data, Sync Profile can use a GitHub Gist that belongs to you. GitHub secret gists are unlisted, not truly private, so anyone with the Gist URL can view the contents. Your GitHub token is stored only on your device and sent only to GitHub for sync requests. Privacy: Alexandria has no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no Alexandria-operated backend. Your bookmarks, history, tabs, and settings stay in your browser unless you choose to enable optional GitHub Gist sync for selected Alexandria data. Alexandria is a hobby project, but it is also something I use every day. I built it because Chromium browsers never gave me the Library-style workflow I wanted. If it saves you a few clicks or makes your browser feel a little less scattered, it is doing its job. Docs and changelog: https://alexandria.enhe.social/
