Alavo Paperly
Overview
Read the books already in a folder on your computer, with your own shelves, highlights and notes. Works offline.
Paperly is a reader for book files the user already keeps on their own computer. The user picks one folder through the browser's own folder picker, and Paperly lists the book and document files inside it and shows them on its own extension page, keeping the folder structure the user already made as the shelves they see. While reading, a passage can be highlighted and a note attached to it, and the reading position is remembered so a book reopens where it was closed. All of it is stored locally on the user's own device. Reading and annotating the user's own files is the only thing this extension does. It ships no content scripts and never acts on, reads or alters the web pages the user visits.
