Photo Cleaner: Clean Up Duplicates in Google Photos

)Overview
Clean up Google Photos: trash duplicates and free up storage. Free, private on-device AI: your photos never leave your computer.
Photo Cleaner finds duplicates and clutter in large Google Photos libraries, and moves the photos you approve to Google Photos’ trash. Free to use • Finding and trashing duplicates and searching your library will always be free. • If paid extras come later, they’ll be optional additions. Nothing you can do today will be taken away. Private by design • The AI runs on your own computer’s graphics card. Photo Cleaner never uploads your photos to an AI service. • No Photo Cleaner account or collection server. Your library data and analysis stay in your browser, and uninstalling removes that local data. • Optional usage statistics (opt-in) are sent directly to Google Analytics only if you agree. They help us understand which features people use and where they get stuck. They never include your photos, search words, album names or Google account details. • You can turn reporting off at any time. Uninstalling does not remove statistics already sent to Google Analytics. Duplicates • Groups near-identical shots taken moments apart—bursts, retakes and edits—and suggests the best one to keep, by sharpness and quality. • Go through one group at a time with the keyboard, and undo any choice. Search and sweep • Describe what you want gone (“screenshots”, “receipts”, “blurry photos of the floor”) and Photo Cleaner finds matching photos across your analysed library. • Refine with “more like these” and “less like these”, then trash the selection in one go. Safe • Favourites, archived photos and photos in albums are protected by default and never offered for the trash while their protection is enabled. Each protection can be switched off. • Every photo is checked again just before it is trashed. • Google Photos keeps trashed photos for 30 days unless you empty the trash sooner. Photo Cleaner’s undo can restore photos while they remain in the trash. What you need • Chrome on a Windows or Mac desktop or laptop, with a graphics card supported by Chrome’s WebGPU. • Allow roughly 450 MB of free disk space to get started, including the AI model—about 320 MB, downloaded from Hugging Face and kept for reuse. Storage needs grow with your library. • The first analysis takes a while for a big library. As a rough guide, 17,000 photos can take about an hour on a good graphics card; speed varies by computer. It runs in the background, and you can start reviewing as results become available. Problems or ideas?
