Overview

Estimate the energy and water footprint of your AI usage

The extension uses the length of your messages and ChatGPT’s replies to estimate energy usage based on GPT-4o’s characteristics. The results are estimates—not guarantees—but give you a sense of your AI footprint. It runs securely in your browser and never sends your data anywhere. 🌱 Features - Estimates ChatGPT energy use from text length - Works locally: no data leaves your browser - Helps you understand your environmental impact 🏗️ Limitations (for now): - Chrome only (support for other browsers coming) - ChatGPT only - Estimation accuracy is a work in progress AI tools may be “free,” but they have real environmental costs. --- Built and open-sourced by Simon Zilinskas — contributions welcome github.com/simonaszilinskas/ai-impact-tracker ai-impact.tortue.studio
