Ever looked at a product photo and thought, "did a human actually shoot that, or did someone just prompt their way to a JPEG?" This little tool was born from exactly that curiosity. AI Image Detector is a fun side project we put together to see how much information images quietly carry around with them. Click the extension, hit Scan, and it will check the images on the page, looking at two things: whether the filename contains any known AI tool names (Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, Flux, Firefly, and more), and whether the image metadata (EXIF, XMP, PNG text chunks) contains any telltale signs that a generator was involved, like generation parameters, software tags, or prompt data baked in at creation. Results come back in a simple panel sorted into four groups: images with a clear AI signal, images with a weaker or ambiguous signal, images that look clean, and anything it could not read. Flagged items show exactly what triggered them, whether a filename match or a metadata clue. A few honest caveats: not all AI images leave a trail (many generators strip metadata), and not everything flagged is necessarily AI-generated (filenames can be misleading). This tool is best used as a starting point for curiosity, not a definitive verdict. Supports JPEG, PNG and WebP. Works on any webpage.
