Overview
Check sources in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and more. Review AI citations, grade source quality A-F and inspect references.
Verify sources in an AI answer or AI summary before you cite or share it. AI FactScan is an AI citation checker and AI source checker for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other supported AI chat platforms. It collects citation links, grades source quality A-F, and helps you review the original sources in a Chrome side panel. Concerned about hallucinated citations, fake citations or fake references? Review the original sources and identify references that need closer inspection before using them in a paper, report or article. WHAT YOU CAN CHECK • Source quality: See A-F grades for the sources behind an AI answer and decide which references need closer review. • Source warning signals: Spot known content-farm domains, AI self-references and invalid resolver patterns. • Academic identifiers: Check supported DOI, arXiv and PubMed links and flag identifiers that cannot be found. • Citation diversity: See whether an answer relies on the same domains or repeats the same articles and papers. • Review records: Export a full HTML analysis report for later review. HOW TO CHECK CITATIONS IN AN AI ANSWER 1. Open a supported AI chat platform. 2. Use the page picker to select the answer you want to inspect. 3. Review its extracted citation links and source grades in the side panel. 4. Open the original sources to read the evidence and check whether they support the answer. HOW SOURCE GRADES WORK AI FactScan grades sources using academic rankings, research indexes, official institutional directories and explicit warning signals. Negative signals include the CRED-1 dataset and content-farm lists. A source grade helps you prioritize what to review. VERIFY DOI, ARXIV AND PUBMED REFERENCES Need to verify a DOI, arXiv ID or PubMed reference? AI FactScan checks supported identifiers and flags those that cannot be found, so you know which references to investigate before citing them.
