AI Assistant for Cohere is a free browser extension that helps you summarize pages, explain selected text, rewrite content, and draft replies directly in your browser. No paid subscription is required inside the extension. You only need your own Cohere API key. Cohere provides a free, rate-limited trial API key after sign-up, so you can start quickly. Getting a Cohere API key is simple: 1. Create or open your Cohere account. 2. Go to the API Keys section in the Cohere dashboard. 3. Copy your trial API key. 4. Paste it into AI Assistant settings. 5. Start using the extension. After your Cohere account is ready, copying and pasting the API key takes only a few seconds. Install the extension. 2. Open Settings. 3. Paste your Cohere API key. 4. Open the sidebar or select text on a page. 5. Click an action such as Summarize, Explain, Rewrite, Key points, or Draft reply. Privacy-friendly by design: AI Assistant does not automatically upload every page you visit. Text is sent only when you click an action. Selection-based actions send the selected text you choose. Page-related actions may send readable page text, page title, and page URL as context. Your Cohere API key is stored locally in Chrome extension storage. The extension does not use analytics or tracking unless stated in the privacy policy. Cohere processes submitted text according to Cohere’s own terms and privacy practices. Important: This extension is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft. It is also not an official Cohere product. Cohere trial API usage is free but rate-limited. Higher-volume or production usage may require a different Cohere plan according to Cohere’s own terms.
