transcribe.free turns audio and video into text without leaving your browser. Upload a file, record from your microphone, or right-click an audio or video file on a web page, and get a transcript with timestamps that you can copy or download as a text file or as subtitles. What it does Transcribe audio and video files Drop a file into the side panel or choose one from your computer. Record from the microphone Press Record audio, speak, then press Stop and transcribe. Useful for voice notes, quick dictation, interviews and meeting notes. Transcribe audio and video on the page you are reading Right-click an audio player, a video or a link to an audio or video file and choose "Transcribe this audio or video". The popup also lists the audio and video it finds on the current page. Our server downloads the file from its link, so nothing large passes through your browser. Video and music platforms and streamed media are not supported; for those, upload a file you have. Transcripts with timestamps Every line of the transcript shows when it was said. Copy the plain text, copy it with timestamps, or open it in the transcribe.free editor to fix words and name speakers. Subtitles and captions Download SRT or VTT subtitle files ready for video editors and video players, or a plain text file. Many languages The spoken language is detected automatically, or pick it yourself from more than 40 languages. Keeps working in the background Long files are transcribed on our servers. Close the panel if you like: a notification tells you when the transcript is ready, and your recent transcripts stay listed in the extension. Daily allowance and accounts You can use it without an account, with a daily number of files and a maximum length and size per file. When a limit is reached, the extension tells you which one, and the daily allowance resets within 24 hours. If you have a transcribe.free account, paste the API token from your account page into the extension settings and jobs run on your account and its limits. Privacy Nothing is sent until you ask for a transcript. Then the extension sends the file you chose or recorded, or the link to the audio or video file, to transcribe.free, with a random install ID used to count the daily allowance. It only gets access to a tab when you click the extension or use its right-click menu, and then only to list the audio and video on that page. The extension contains no analytics or advertising code and loads no remote code. Recordings are never used to train AI models. Transcripts made without an account are deleted after 24 hours.
