Overview

Groups tabs by domain, AWS account, Google doc type and Jira vs Confluence, and closes duplicate tabs. No data collection.

Tabitat keeps your tab strip in order, without you thinking about it. AUTOMATIC TAB GROUPS Tabs are grouped as they open — by domain, or by rules that understand the tools you actually use: • AWS console tabs separate by account, each in its own colour, so Production and Staging never sit in the same group. • Google Workspace tabs separate by document type, rather than piling every one of them into a single docs.google.com group. • An Atlassian site splits into separate issue-tracker and wiki groups, and two different sites never merge into one. • Group by domain everywhere, by subdomain only for the sites you list. NO MORE DUPLICATE TABS Open a link to a page you already have open and the new tab stays while the stale one closes. What counts as "the same page" is the hard part, and Tabitat gets it right: tracking parameters are ignored, so the same link from Slack and from email match; but the AWS console's fragment and YouTube's video id are respected, so genuinely different pages never collapse into one. Pinned tabs, tabs playing audio, and tabs holding unsaved form input are never closed — Tabitat switches you to them instead. FIND ANY TAB IN TWO KEYSTROKES Alt+Shift+T opens a numbered list of your nine most recent tabs — press 1-9 to jump. Start typing and it searches every open tab by title, URL and group name, then renumbers the results. Alt+Shift+S flips straight back to the previous tab. PRIVACY BY DEFAULT No crash reporting, no third-party code, no bundled or minified scripts. Every permission that could be sensitive — AWS cookie access, site access for the unsaved-input guard, and usage statistics — is optional, off by default, and requested only when you turn that feature on. Anonymous usage statistics are opt-in and never include a URL, a page title, an AWS account, or anything you type; the full list of what they can contain is on the options page and in the privacy policy.
