Spider Prankster
Overview
A procedural neon spider visits web pages, steals words, shuffles letters and spins webs. Undo every prank.
An animated spider occasionally climbs onto the open page and gets up to mischief. For entertainment, it temporarily changes visible text, including numbers, and the page layout: • swaps words and carries them off the screen; • flips words and scrambles letters; • gnaws on numbers so their digits spin; • shoves paragraphs; • attaches silk to pictures and drags them 40–100 pixels with several tugs; • swaps two similarly sized pictures, hauling each one separately; • suspends a static banner by its edges, climbs aboard and swings on it; • spins cobwebs you can tear with the cursor; • assembles notes from page words and hangs words in silk cocoons. Eight legs, burst-and-freeze movement, jumps with a safety thread and descents from the top of the screen. Approach slowly and the spider rears up; flick the mouse and it bolts. The Phrase dictionary section lets you add your own note phrases and remove any existing entry, including built-ins. The spider assembles them from suitable page words or fragments. “Add built-in phrases” preserves custom phrases; an empty dictionary disables notes only. The spider has mood, satiety, trust and caution. Select one complete word of ordinary page text → right-click → Feed the spider: it wraps its catch in silk, unwraps it, eats it in small bites and shows a heart. After a meal it may stay nearby; a full spider may build a hammock in a clear margin and nap. Gentle encounters help it become familiar and occasionally wave. Repeated dismissals make it cautious, then prompt a quick single-prank raid with a longer wait before returning. Its card shows its state and aggregate planned, completed, interrupted and dismissed counts. Feeding accepts one visible word of up to 40 characters, excluding links, buttons, inputs, editable areas and code. Undo all restores an eaten word; Esc during a meal restores the interrupted word. Numeric pet memory stays local and is shared between tabs; it contains no offered words or pointer history. Automatic visits are enabled by default, normally once every 5–15 minutes on one schedule shared by all tabs, only in the active visible tab. Settings let you turn off automatic visits, choose the frequency, effects, size, speed and sound, exclude sites, or allow visits only on selected domains. Site lists control automatic visits; manual summoning remains available on supported pages. With the relevant setting enabled, the spider stays away during video playback and fullscreen use. Input fields, editable areas and code blocks are excluded from prank selection. “Undo all” or Alt+Shift+Z reverses the changes; reloading also restores the page content. Use “Summon spider” or Alt+Shift+S for a manual visit. Esc or three clicks on the spider send it away. A built-in playground lets you try each effect individually. Page content and pointer movement are processed in the browser and are not sent to the developer. The extension makes no network requests of its own and uses no analytics. Settings, including domain lists, may be synced by the browser. The phrase dictionary is stored locally and is not synced. A local notes journal stores a dictionary phrase (built-in or user-added), the site's hostname and the event time; the journal displays the past week's entries. The privacy policy explains storage and cleanup in detail. The extension supports Russian and English UI with an Auto / Русский / English selector. The interface language does not restrict the language of notes. Browser internal pages and extension stores are unavailable to the spider. Chrome and Edge require a separate browser setting to allow access to local files; Firefox does not support local files. Support: dekant12@gmail.com
