AetherTab | A Calm Workspace for Tabs and Bookmarks AetherTab replaces your browser’s New Tab page with a clean, focused workspace for capturing open tabs, organizing bookmarks, and returning to important links without keeping dozens of tabs open. Inspired by modern product design, AetherTab combines a calm interface with practical collection tools. Import bookmarks from Chrome or Toby, organize links locally, share collections without requiring an account, and personalize the entire workspace with four cohesive color themes. ✨ KEY FEATURES 1. Clean, Focused New Tab Workspace Enjoy a spacious, responsive interface with clear typography, quiet surfaces, subtle animations, and carefully designed light and dark modes. AetherTab keeps your workspace readable without visual clutter. 2. Tab and Session Management View open tabs from the sidebar, save individual tabs, or capture an entire browser session in one action. Drag an open tab into a collection to save it and automatically close the original tab, helping keep your browser tidy. 3. Bookmark and Toby Import Bring existing links into AetherTab from: • Chrome bookmarks • Netscape/Chrome bookmark HTML files • Toby JSON and TXT exports • Generic JSON files • AetherTab collection files and share codes AetherTab supports both legacy Toby list/card exports and newer space/collection/resource structures while preserving useful folder context. 4. Local Smart Organization Organize imported bookmarks or restructure your existing workspace using titles, domains, keywords, and source folders. Before saving, AetherTab shows a complete preview of the proposed collections. Duplicate links, tracking-only URL variations, unsafe addresses, and invalid entries are automatically excluded. Organization runs locally on your device and can be undone after applying changes. 5. Portable Collection Sharing Share any collection without creating an account. AetherTab can generate: • Portable share codes • Direct import links • Downloadable JSON backups • System share-sheet items Only the selected collection name, link titles, and web addresses are included. Nothing is shared until you explicitly choose a sharing action. 6. Search, Domain Badges, and Site Grouping Find links through global workspace search, active-tab filtering, or per-collection search. AetherTab automatically identifies common services such as GitHub, ChatGPT, Google Workspace, YouTube, and Notion. Collections can also be grouped by domain into expandable site sections for faster navigation. 7. Four Cohesive Page Themes Choose from four carefully balanced themes: • Blue • Sage • Lilac • Sand Each theme updates the complete workspace—including page backgrounds, sidebar, cards, inputs, borders, shadows, text hierarchy, and interactive accents. Every theme supports both light and dark appearance modes. 8. Interactive Weather Use the optional weather widget to search for a city manually or request your current location. Toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit at any time. 9. Optional Chrome Sync Chrome Sync is disabled by default. When enabled, AetherTab can synchronize collections and selected preferences between browsers signed into the same Chrome profile. 🔒 PRIVACY FIRST AetherTab does not contain advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, or user profiling. We do not sell user data and do not operate a server that collects your tabs, bookmarks, or collections. By default, collections and settings are stored locally in Chrome storage. If you explicitly enable Chrome Sync, collections and selected preferences are stored through your signed-in Chrome profile’s sync storage. Chrome bookmarks are read only when you choose the Browser Bookmarks import option. AetherTab does not modify or delete your original browser bookmarks. Collection data leaves the extension only when you explicitly copy, download, or share a collection. When you use weather features, a manually entered city—or your coordinates after granting GPS permission—is sent securely over HTTPS to Open-Meteo and the configured reverse-geocoding provider solely to retrieve location and weather information. Everything else—including bookmark parsing, duplicate removal, classification, organization, and collection management—runs locally on your device.
