Overview

A web clipper for Notion that saves pages, articles and highlights, fills your database properties, and keeps the whole article.

Dogear saves what you read into your own Notion databases — not a fixed schema someone else designed, but the database you already use, with the properties you already have. ✅ WHAT IT DOES — FREE, NO ACCOUNT NEEDED 🗂️ Saves to any database in your workspace, and builds the form from that database's own structure. Every writable Notion property type is supported. ➕ No database yet? Choose “Make one for me” during setup and get one with its columns ready to fill in for you. 🎛️ Arrange the form your way: reorder fields, set their width, tuck rarely used ones under More fields, or switch a field off. ✍️ Fills the fields in for you from the page — title, canonical URL, author, description, publication date — read from Open Graph tags, standard meta tags, and JSON-LD. 🏷️ Your own column names work too: choose what goes in each column — the author, the site name, the page address, a date — or leave one for you to fill in. 📰 Captures the whole article as real Notion blocks: headings, nested lists, quotes, code with its language, tables, and images with captions. ✂️ Save only the part you want: select a few paragraphs, or point at a section with the mouse, and only that is saved — useful when an article doesn't come through cleanly. 🎬 Saves YouTube videos as a playable video with their chapters and description. 🧵 Recognizes social posts instead of saving a bare link. On the platforms that allow it, a thread saves whole and each post keeps its own text and pictures, so you can search them. ✉️ Saves an email open in a supported webmail inbox as the message itself: its subject, sender, date and text. Your mail is never sent to an AI provider. 💬 Saves a whole chatbot conversation, not just the last screen: every prompt and reply from the very first message, with code, tables and math intact. 🛍️ Saves a product page, on Amazon or any shop that describes its products in standard markup, with its name, picture, description and details. 📄 PDFs open in Chrome save with a viewer right in the page, linked to the original file. 🖍️ Highlights as you read — 5 on every page. Select text, add a note, pick a color. Your highlights are saved into the page, and can reappear when you come back to the article. 🎨 Select some words and a small toolbar offers your colors and a note — nothing is marked until you pick one. Click a highlight later to change it, or use a keyboard shortcut or the right-click menu. 🌐 Prefer it always ready? Switch the toolbar on for the places you choose, or everywhere, and use it without opening the panel. You're asked first, and it switches off just as easily. 🧩 Save presets — 5 — and per-site rules, which are never limited, so arriving somewhere you save from often means the form is already right. The form tells you which rule fired — it is never magic. 🍳 Knows a recipe, a product listing or a PDF when it sees one, and can fill the form your way for each kind, whichever website it comes from. 🥘 Recipes come in ready to cook from: the ingredients as a checklist and the steps numbered at the top, with the times and servings in your own columns if you want them. 📋 Uses the templates you've built in your workspace: each save starts from your default one, the way the New button does, with its icon, cover and headings, and your article below them. 🔁 Tells you when a page is already saved, and offers to update that row instead of making a second one. It tells you; it never decides for you. 🧭 Shows how many pages from the site you're on are already saved, and when the latest was. Pro lists them, with links. 📶 Saves survive closing the panel. A save is a background job that finishes on its own, retries when something goes wrong, and waits rather than failing if you go offline. ⌨️ Works from a floating panel or Chrome's side panel, with a keyboard shortcut and a right-click menu. 💾 Back up your presets, folders, site rules and preferences to a file, and restore them on any computer. ⭐ DOGEAR PRO Pro adds eleven things: 🖼️ Images uploaded into Notion — a copy stored in your own workspace, so a saved article keeps its pictures even if the source site removes them. Free links to the originals. 📸 Page screenshots — the visible area, the full page, an element, or a region you draw — and mark them up before saving: crop, hide, arrows, boxes, text and numbered steps. 📝 Video transcripts, timestamped, with every line linking back to that moment in the video. ✨ AI summaries, TL;DRs and suggested tags, using your own API key. Write your own instructions, like “Summarize in three bullets”, and keep different ones for different kinds of saves. Fields it fills are marked until you edit them, so you can check them before saving. There is no AI service of ours in between. 🖍️ Unlimited highlights — Free includes 5 on every page. 🔄 Highlights stay in step with the copy you keep: a change on either side reaches the other, and they follow you to your other computers. 🗒️ A notebook beside everything you keep: headings, lists, checklists and quotes, written as you read and kept in step the same way. 📚 Unlimited presets — Free includes 5. 📄 PDFs uploaded into your workspace, so they survive the original, with their text searchable if you switch that on. 🗃️ Save every open tab at once — up to 50 in one go, with the ones already in your database marked and skipped. A progress bar shows how far along it is. ☁️ Presets, folders and per-site rules kept on your account, so they come back on a new computer, a new browser profile, or after reinstalling. Pro is billed monthly or yearly, and new subscribers get 7 days free. There is also a one-time Founder purchase while seats last. Current prices are at dogearfornotion.app. 🆕 UPDATES 1.19 — A progress bar when sending many tabs at once, one scroll for the whole panel, and a round of fixes. 1.16 to 1.18 — For subscribers, marks and a notebook that stay in step with your copy; sections that fold away; more contrast in light mode. 1.14 to 1.15 — A toolbar that appears when you select words, a keyboard shortcut, and the option to have it ready on the places you choose. Full release notes: dogearfornotion.app/changelog 🔒 PRIVACY No page you save passes through a Dogear server. Your pages go from your browser to Notion, and — only if you add your own AI key — to your AI provider, when you press Suggest or, if you switch the option on, once per page automatically. Saving a Bluesky post asks that site's public API which thread it belongs to, sending only the post's address, with no cookies. Saving an X thread repeats, from the page you are on, the request the page itself makes for the rest of the thread; your session never reaches the extension. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting. Two small services sit behind the extension, and page content reaches neither. Connecting your workspace goes through an exchange service, because the sign-in (OAuth) requires a client secret that cannot be shipped inside an extension; it also revokes your token when you press Disconnect, and it stores nothing. If you subscribe to Pro and sign in, the account service answers whether your subscription is active and keeps the backup of your presets, folders, per-site rules and settings — and until you sign in, the extension does not hold permission to reach it at all. Dogear has no standing access to your browsing. There is no always-on content script; it reads a page only when you invoke it, and only the page you are looking at. Two optional features change that only if you turn them on: the highlight toolbar on the places you choose, and the edge tab. Chrome asks for that access first, and the toolbar reads nothing until you select something. Dogear is an independent product. It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Notion Labs, Inc.
