AdHush makes ad breaks arrive empty. Most blockers wait for an ad to be delivered and then hide it, skip it, or block the request that fetches it. By then the ad has already been scheduled, and often already downloaded. AdHush works one step earlier: it empties the ad break in the response before the player ever reads it, so nothing is scheduled, nothing is requested, and nothing is buffered. WHAT YOU GET - Video ads never play — no pre-roll, no mid-roll, no skip button to wait for - Feed, search and sidebar ad units are never built - Playback starts sooner, because ad bytes are never fetched at all - A side panel showing, live, exactly what was emptied on the page you are on WHAT IT DOES NOT DO - It does not collect, store or transmit anything. No accounts, no analytics, no servers — the extension has no network access of its own. - It does not ask for broad permissions. It runs on youtube.com and youtube-nocookie.com and nowhere else. It cannot read any other site. - It grants no other paid features — no background play, no downloads, no offline. This is about ads, and nothing else. - It does not hide ads with CSS. Hiding a rendered ad means the ad was already fetched and played, which is the thing this exists to prevent. NOTHING HIDDEN Five small files, no build step, no minification, no remote code. What runs in your browser is exactly what was uploaded, and you can read every line of it in your browser's developer tools. It is developed against a verification suite of 89 assertions, each paired with a control that must fail if the suite ever stops actually testing. AdHush is proprietary software, not open source. Readable is not the same as free to copy. PERMISSIONS, AND WHY THERE ARE SO FEW Two entries, both of them narrow: access to youtube.com and youtube-nocookie.com, and "sidePanel" so the extension can open its own panel.
