design is awful and it doesn't even work.

I'm sorry that you don't like the design. Can you let me know which website it is not working on? I'd like to try to make it work. If the website author didn't use standard event markup then it can be difficult for the extension to determine the correct start and end information for the event. If that is the case, then what often helps is highlighting all the information for the event and then clicking on the Add To Calendar button 📅

tried it out & did not work well. email clearly said: "Writing Session Saturday, December 14, 2024 12 pm - 1 pm" pretty straightforward. on try 1, it got the date right but put some random time (i think it was 12am-12am the next day or something weird). on try 2, after refreshing, it put some random date and random time (i think it was 4pm on april??). so inaccurate but also not consistent.

I'm sorry it didn't work well for you. Can you please try again but this time click on "Next Event" and look at the second event. The extension can find multiple events on a page. I tried the data you supplied in an email and the second event had the correct info. With an email, the first event can sometimes be the date and time of the email and then the second or third event can be the event information in the email body. The "Next Event" button will cycle through the events that it finds.

Simply did not work for me. Seems like maybe it just doesn't work with links that prompt an .ics file download?

I'm sorry about the problem you are having. This is the first time that I have heard of a problem with the ics download. I would like to try to fix the problem. Can you describe more details about the issue? Are you not able to download the ics file when you click the download button? Or is your calendar program not importing the file properly? Which calendar program are you using?

Works just well enough to be useful (fails to get the date/time at all about 1/3 of the time, needs correcting about half the time when it does work). "8:45am on Saturday Nov. 16th" in an email was not picked up. Maybe only an impression but I find if I select the right text then click on the extension button it improves reliability? It might be even better if one could select relevant text on a page, right click, then have "add to calendar" as one of the options offered.

Thank you for the review! I'm sorry that the extension is not getting the date/time for you about 1/3 of the time. Unfortunately, there are many different ways that people write dates and times. And people sometimes write a lot of other numbers that can look like dates and times and that can confuse the extension. For example 1/3 can be the date January 3 or it can be 1/3 fraction. Be sure and press the "Next Event" button to see if it picked up the correct information in another detected event. You are correct, selecting the right text does improve the reliability of the extension because then it doesn't have to try to guess the information from all the text in an email or on a website. I recently made an update to fix a bug where it sometimes didn't read two "times" if they were in the same paragraph. Let me know if that improves things for you! I'm always trying to improve the reliability if people let me know exactly where and what information is not being detected properly.

This extension is so helpful I love it. Features I would like if possible- Option to change the menu from white text on black background to black text on white background. Changing of the event time based on if the event time is in a different time zone than me.

Thank you for the review! At this time, there is no setting on the extension popup for white text on a black background, however if you set your OS to dark mode then the extension will detect this and display white text on a black background. Another option is to go to chrome://flags/ in your browser and then search for "dark mode". You can try enabling one of the dark mode settings. You can change the time of an event by clicking on the time field and changing the numbers. Or you can click on the clock 🕓 symbol and change it. Also there is a box after the end time where if you hover your mouse over it then it shows the label: "TimeZone Offset". You can enter a time zone there. If the website uses proper event markup and they include a time zone in the markup then it will appear as something like "+01:00".

I selected this text "06/12/24 - Happy Fridays Christmas Edition" with d/m/y format. and it gave me a date for 18th October. wrong

Update on Oct 22, 2024: Good News! The bug has been fixed in the latest update! Original Reply on Oct 12, 2024: I'm sorry about the issue. It appears that the word "Friday" in the title is confusing the algorithm into thinking that the event date is this Friday, October 18th. I will try to fix that in a future update.

Easy win. Functioned as intended, developer is checking reviews consistently, cost was $5.99 USD for seemingly a lifetime subscription (not 100% clear). Glad to throw a couple bucks at something that lets me skip 10sec of data entry for forever now. My only request would be a checkmark on the extension that let me skip reviewing the info on the page itself - Google Calendar already previews and requests an "OK" before finalizing an event addition, so I'd love to skip that on the extension/ori... This is looking terribly shady. As soon as installed I see a "trial expired" sign, and the extension is completely unusable.

Replier's profile picture
Jeff BakerDeveloperFeb 11, 2024

I'm sorry about the problem you are having. I'm not sure why it said "trial expired" unless you tried the extension in the past and it has been past 30 days. But even when the free trial expires it should still allow you to use basic functionality. It should still be able to scan the website you are on for an event. Can you let me know what website you are trying to use it on? If it isn't working at all then there might be some corruption or a conflict with another extension. If there is data corruption in Chrome then sometimes restarting the computer fixes the issue. Other times removing the extension and then restarting the computer and then adding it again helps. If it is a conflict with another extension then you can go to chrome://extensions/ and try disabling other extensions and then restart the computer. Then try again. Let me know if any of those suggestions help or not.

Not as useful as I'd hoped. Works decently but doesnt recognize dates I've set in ServiceNow. Not a big deal because you can just highlight the date and it will select that. NOTE: The highlight date thing is for premium only and I will no longer be able to use that feature after 30 days (trial period). So, without the highlighting I would give it maybe 2 stars. Also noticed an odd behavior. When I click the download iCal option it downloads the event.ics file 3 times. I've diff'd the files a... Show more

Thank you for the feedback! There has been a standard schema markup for events for quite a while now. If the website author doesn't use the standard markup then it can be very difficult for the extension to find the correct dates, especially if there are a lot of numbers on the website. There have been regular updates to try and match more event information correctly, but it can be impossible to match if the web author doesn't format it nicely. I'm sorry about the issue you are having of it downloading the iCal file multiple times. Hopefully there will be an update to fix that issue soon! UPDATE: The bug of it downloading the iCal file multiple times has been fixed!

- Trial Plz adds an extra "undefined" to the event name and does not define dates and other service information

Replier's profile picture
Jeff BakerDeveloperDec 21, 2023

I'm sorry it isn't working well for you. I haven't heard of an extra "undefined" added to the event name from other users nor have I seen it myself. I'm not sure where you are using the extension but there has been standard event markup for the web for a number of years now. If the website creator didn't use standard event markup then the Add To Calendar extension has to try to guess where the event dates and times for one event begins and ends. If the website creator puts too many arbitrary dates and times in the description then it can be difficult for the extension to guess. In that case, what has helped some users is to highlight all the information for just one event, then click on the 📅 "Add to Calendar" button in the toolbar.
