Overview

Less ads, more you — experience the internet like you've never seen before.

AdBlock removes ads, banners, pop-ups and tracking scripts before they load, so pages arrive lighter and finish sooner. Everything happens on your device. BLOCKING THAT WORKS ON ITS OWN The filter rules are built into the extension itself. There is no list to download, nothing fetched while you browse, and no account to create. Install it and it works, including the first time you open a page. • Blocks ads, banners and pop-ups served from ad networks • Blocks tracking scripts, analytics beacons and cross-site trackers • Blocks known malware and scam domains • Hides the empty boxes and leftover banners that blocked ads leave behind • Sends Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track if you switch them on in settings BUILT FOR MANIFEST V3 Blocking is done by Chrome's own declarativeNetRequest engine, from a ruleset that ships inside the package. The extension hands Chrome the rules and Chrome does the matching, so no code of ours sees or decides anything while a request is in flight. That is why this extension holds no permission that would let its own code intercept, read or rewrite your traffic. To show you how much it stopped, it notices requests that failed because they were blocked, after the fact, when there is nothing left to influence, and keeps a running tally per site. The tallies are stored under keys derived from a random secret that changes every browser session, so what is saved is a set of numbers rather than a list of the sites you visited, and none of it leaves your device. CONTROLS THAT DO WHAT THEY SAY • See how many ads and trackers were blocked on the page and the site you are on, right on the toolbar icon • Switch blocking off for one site and its subdomains, from the popup or the right-click menu • Pause blocking everywhere or on one site, for anything from 5 minutes to 24 hours • Switch it back on from the same button. Turning protection off never hides the popup or strands you WORKS WITH ADBLOCK FOR WINDOWS, AND OUT OF ITS WAY If you also run the AdBlock desktop app for Windows, the two do not fight. The app filters everything on your computer, browser or not, so while it is running the extension steps aside and the popup becomes a control surface for it: one blocker, one set of counts, one place to switch a site off. Close the app and the extension picks blocking back up a few seconds later, on its own settings. You do not have to do anything either way, and you do not need the app at all. The popup always says which of the two is working: it reads "Blocking Lite" when the extension is blocking on its own, and "Connected" when the app has taken over.
