Overview
Create and scan QR codes locally. Style codes, add logos, and generate barcodes.
Code Studio - QR & Barcode Generator Create, customize, download and scan QR codes directly in Chrome. Code Studio brings static code creation, barcode generation, design controls and local QR scanning into one extension, with no account required. Turn a website, contact card, Wi-Fi network or message into a code you can share. Add your brand colors and logo, export an image or vector file, and read QR codes from a chosen image or your camera. Use the toolbar for a quick task or open the full studio for more options. CREATE THE CODE YOU NEED Website links Connect people to a website, portfolio, product page, restaurant menu, event page or online form. Enter the full destination address and generate a code that contains that link. For example, you can create a code for https://lalitbahel.com and use it on a business card or presentation. Plain text Encode a short message, reference, instruction or other text. The content is stored in the code itself rather than uploaded as a hosted document. Keep longer material on a suitable website and share its link when a compact code is more practical. Wi-Fi access Enter a network name, security type and password to prepare a Wi-Fi code. This is useful for guest networks at home, in an office or in a welcoming space. The password is part of the encoded content, so share the finished code only with people who should have access. Contact cards Create a vCard with the contact details you choose to include. Add it to a business card, introduction slide, brochure or event material so people can read your details with a compatible scanner or contact application. Email Prepare a recipient, subject and message for an email. Use it to make an enquiry or feedback action easier to start. The receiving device handles the email action; Code Studio does not send messages for you. WhatsApp Create a link to a conversation with an optional prepared message. Add it to printed information or a contact card to make it easier for someone to start an enquiry using their own device. Phone and SMS Make a telephone number easier to dial, or prepare an SMS recipient and message. Scanning and completing the action depend on the receiving device and its installed applications. Calls and messages are not placed or sent by the extension. Location Share a place using latitude and longitude that you enter. Code Studio does not automatically detect your location or request GPS access. UPI payment requests Prepare a request using a UPI ID and payee name, with an optional amount and note. The extension encodes the request only. It does not access bank accounts, process a payment or confirm whether money was received. Review all payment details in the receiving payment app before proceeding. CREATE FROM THE PAGE YOU ARE VIEWING Use the extension popup to bring in the current page's URL when you invoke Code Studio. Review the address and create a code without moving between unrelated websites. Right-click actions also let you send a page URL, link URL, selected text or image source URL into the full editor. Only the value you choose is used for the requested action. The image right-click action creates a code containing the image's URL. It does not download the image or scan a QR code inside that image. To read an existing QR image, use the scanner's file chooser instead. MAKE IT MATCH YOUR BRAND Start with one of six QR designs: Classic, Soft, Dotted, Orbit, Diamond or Gem. Fine-tune the small data shapes using Square, Rounded, Dots or Diamond patterns. Choose Square, Rounded or Circle corner styles and adjust foreground and background colors. Combine these controls to create a look that fits your project while keeping the content unchanged. Add a PNG, JPEG or WebP logo from your device. The file is handled locally and placed in the QR output. Remove it or change the design as you work. Choose strong contrast and keep the code easy to read. A distinctive design is useful only when the final result can still be scanned. EXPORT FOR DIGITAL AND PRINT PROJECTS Download PNG images for presentations, documents, websites and other layouts that use image files. Choose SVG when you need scalable code artwork for a design or print workflow. When a logo is included in an SVG export, the logo is embedded as an image. The SVG container does not turn a raster logo into editable vector paths. Before enabling QR downloads, the renderer checks that the generated output decodes to the original content. A design that does not pass the check needs adjustment before export. This checks the code's content, not the trustworthiness of its destination. Always test the final exported file and a printed sample with the devices you expect people to use. Keep the clear space around the code, avoid stretching it, and check that your layout, colors and logo have not made it difficult to scan. An in-app check is not a guarantee for every camera, scanner or printing condition. GENERATE COMMON BARCODE FORMATS Beyond QR, the full studio produces widely used barcode formats for retail, shipping, packaging and inventory labels — including linear formats like Code 128 and EAN-13, plus 2D formats such as Data Matrix and PDF417. Choose the required format, enter an appropriate value, review the output and export it. Supported formats have different input requirements, so use the type and data expected by your intended workflow. These tools are useful when preparing label artwork, reference codes, product information layouts, packaging concepts or test data. Code Studio generates symbols; it is not an inventory database, product registration service or label-printing management system. READ QR CODES FROM IMAGES OR YOUR CAMERA Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image containing a QR code and decode it locally. This is useful for checking a code you exported or reading one from an image already saved on your computer. You can also start the camera scanner in the full editor. Camera use requires browser permission and suitable hardware. Camera frames are processed locally, with no audio requested. File-based scanning remains available when a camera is unavailable or permission is denied. After decoding, review the result before deciding what to do next. Use Copy content to copy it or Open link for a supported destination. Scanning does not automatically open a website, send a message or make a payment. The camera stops after a result, when you press Stop, or when the scanner/editor closes or becomes hidden. Review unfamiliar destinations carefully: decoding a link does not certify that the website is safe. The scanner in this release reads QR codes. The other supported barcode formats are generation features, not additional scanner modes. PRACTICAL WAYS TO USE CODE STUDIO For designers and freelancers: prepare branded contact cards, portfolio links and code artwork for client layouts. Export the files you need, place them in your design and test the finished result. For small businesses: connect a flyer, shop display, brochure or packaging insert to an existing website, product page, contact action or menu. Code Studio creates the connection through the code; you provide and maintain the destination. For educators and event organizers: share a resource link, online registration form, venue coordinates or short instruction on a slide or handout. Access permissions on the linked website still apply. For offices and guest spaces: prepare a guest Wi-Fi code, contact details or a link to an information page. Treat any code containing a password as access information, not as a public decoration. For developers and testers: generate examples in different supported formats, inspect decoded QR content and check that a chosen style preserves the intended value. LOCAL PROCESSING, CLEAR BOUNDARIES The extension processes the content you enter or intentionally select on your device. Code content, logo files, chosen scanner images, camera frames and decoded results are not sent to the developer, analytics services or advertising services. There is no account sign-in, advertising SDK, scan analytics dashboard or cloud-save service in this release. The extension does not continuously monitor browsing, maintain a browsing-history log or read saved browser passwords. Open-editor work is held in memory rather than stored as a persistent code library. Temporary extension session storage supports passing selected content from the popup or a right-click action to the full editor. This is a short-lived transfer, not a cloud backup or cross-device sync feature. Files you download remain where your browser saves them until you remove them. Content you copy is handled by your operating system's clipboard. Keep the exports you need before closing the editor. Local processing does not make a shared code secret. A person who can scan it may be able to read its contents, including contact details or a Wi-Fi password. Only encode and share information you are comfortable giving to the intended recipients. Opening a decoded link or choosing to visit the developer's website is a separate browser navigation. The destination website's own privacy practices apply to that visit. WHY THE EXTENSION REQUESTS PERMISSIONS activeTab supports using the current page's URL after you invoke the extension. It is not used for continuous browsing surveillance. contextMenus provides the right-click actions for a chosen page, link, text selection or image URL. storage supports the temporary transfer of selected content into the full editor. Code Studio does not use Chrome Sync for a persistent code history. Camera access is requested when you choose camera scanning. You can use image-file scanning without granting camera access. GET STARTED 1. Install Code Studio and pin it to the Chrome toolbar for convenient access. 2. Open the popup for a quick website or text code, or open the full studio for content builders, barcode formats, design controls and scanning. 3. Enter and review your content. Choose a QR design, adjust colors and add a logo when needed. 4. Generate the output and download a PNG or SVG. Scan the final file and test any printed version before distributing it. For a first test, use https://lalitbahel.com as the website address. After generating the code, save its PNG and choose that file in the QR scanner. Check that the decoded result matches the address you entered. COMMON QUESTIONS Does generation need an internet connection? The installed extension bundles its generation and decoding tools locally. You can use the local editor and scan an image without a cloud service. Opening a website, sending a message or completing a payment through another app may require connectivity. Can I change the destination after printing a code? This release creates static codes. The encoded value is fixed in the exported image. To encode a different address, generate a new code and replace the previous artwork. If you control the page already linked, you can update that page's content separately. Do the codes expire? Code Studio does not add an expiry timer to a static code. A web destination still needs to remain available, and the printed or displayed code must remain readable. Can I use a code to share a PDF, video or other file? You can encode the URL of a file or page that is already hosted somewhere accessible. The extension does not upload or host documents, videos or other destination content. Test that the intended recipient can open the link with the required access permissions. Will every phone perform the same action? Not necessarily. A receiving device's scanner, operating system, applications and permissions determine how it handles Wi-Fi details, contact cards, messages and other content. Test the relevant workflow on the devices your audience uses. Does a successful check prove a payment happened or a website is safe? No. Code verification and decoding concern the encoded content. They do not confirm a financial transaction, verify a payee or certify a destination website. Can I retrieve old work from an account? There is no account or cloud archive in this release. Save the exported files you need and keep your own record of the source information when appropriate. ABOUT THIS RELEASE Code Studio 0.2.0 focuses on local creation, customization, export and QR scanning. It does not include managed dynamic redirects, scan tracking, bulk generation, AI artwork, cloud storage, PDF document export or an integrated checkout. The full studio uses the Lalit Bahel theme. Visiting the developer's website is optional and is not required to use the locally bundled tools. WEBSITE, SUPPORT AND PRIVACY Created by Lalit Bahel.
