Active Window for Google Chrome™ – Keep Any Tab "Active" Even When You Look Away Have you ever switched to another tab only to find that the page you left behind paused its video, stopped its timer or logged you out? Modern websites constantly check whether their tab is visible and focused. As soon as you look away, many of them throttle animations, halt playback, suspend auto-refresh or trigger "you are away" logic. Active Window for Google Chrome™ puts you back in control by making approved websites believe that their window is always active, focused and visible – exactly as if you never left. WHAT IT DOES Active Window emulates an active browser window on the sites you choose. It overrides the signals web pages use to detect whether they are in the foreground, so scripts that react to a hidden or unfocused tab never fire. The extension can: • Overwrite "document.visibilityState" so the page always reports "visible" • Overwrite "document.hidden" so the page always reports "false" • Globally block "blur" events that tell a page it lost focus • Globally block "focus" events • Globally block "visibilitychange" events fired when you switch tabs • Globally block "mouseleave" and "mouseout" events used to detect that the cursor left the page • Block "lostpointercapture" events • Block JavaScript-driven redirects that some pages use once they detect inactivity • Display debug logs to help you troubleshoot a stubborn site Every option is a simple checkbox, so you enable only what a particular website needs. PER-SITE ACTIVATION, NOT A GLOBAL HACK By default the extension is completely inactive on every website – the toolbar icon stays gray and nothing on the page is modified. When you land on a site that should stay active, click the toolbar button once. The current hostname is added to your activation list, the icon turns blue, and the page refreshes automatically so the new behavior takes effect immediately. Click again to remove the site and return it to normal. Active Window only runs where you have explicitly asked it to. Power users can edit the hostname list directly in the options view, using comma-separated entries and wildcard patterns such as example.com, *.example.com or www.example.com. Enabling it everywhere with "*" is possible but discouraged, since it can waste resources; limit it to the sites that truly need an active tab. SMART POLICIES FOR TRICKY SITES Some web applications behave unexpectedly when a specific event is blocked. For that reason Active Window includes a Policies field: a small JSON object where you can exclude individual events for individual hostnames. For example, {"docs.google.com": ["blur"]} tells the extension to keep suppressing everything you selected but to let "blur" events through on Google Docs. That way your tab stays active without breaking the features you rely on. It requests just the permissions it needs: the active tab, local storage for your settings, and scripting to apply the emulation. It works fully offline, with no accounts, no tracking and no external servers. Your settings never leave your browser. A CLEAN, MODERN INTERFACE The popup offers a material-style layout with a light and dark theme toggle, clearly labeled checkboxes for every option, a one-click Toggle Active Host button, Save Options and a Factory Reset (double-click to confirm). A built-in help link opens our tutorial, and the interface is localized into more than forty languages. HOW TO GET STARTED 1. Install Active Window for Google Chrome™ and pin the icon to your toolbar. 2. Visit the website that keeps pausing or logging you out. 3. Click the gray icon – it turns blue and the page reloads. 4. Open the popup to fine-tune which signals to override, then click Save Options. 5. Switch tabs, minimize the window or step away – your page will keep behaving as if it is still in front of you.
