Acta Diurna — Google Meet capture
Overview
Capture the Google Meet tab you are already in and transcribe it locally with acta.
Acta Diurna records a Google Meet call onto your own computer and writes a transcript with every speaker named. No bot joins the call. The extension captures the tab you are already in and streams the audio to the acta application running on your machine, over a socket to localhost. Transcription happens locally, on your own processor. Nothing is uploaded, because there is no server to upload to: no account, no sign-in, and no copy of a meeting that anyone else can read. The side panel beside the call shows what is being captured — how many speaker channels, whether your microphone is on, when the last audio frame arrived — and opens the local record when the call is over. The finished transcript is a plain Markdown file on your disk, which you can read, edit, delete, or hand to an agent of your own. This extension does nothing on its own. It needs the acta application installed and running on the same machine; the homepage has the install steps for macOS and Windows. Whether you may record a call is a matter of law and courtesy where you are. Acta does not announce itself in the meeting, so telling the other participants is yours to do.
