Acentua helps people who write Brazilian Portuguese with an English keyboard by restoring high-confidence missing accents while they type. Examples: tambem → também voce → você nao → não informacao → informação Acentua works locally in your browser. It does not send typed text to a server, does not use analytics, and does not store full sentences. Features: - Corrects high-confidence Brazilian Portuguese accent omissions - Works in text fields, search fields, textareas, and basic rich text editors - Preserves capitalization, such as Voce → Você and VOCE → VOCÊ - Includes an expanded local Brazilian Portuguese dictionary - Avoids automatic correction of ambiguous words - Offers optional local suggestions for ambiguous words, including multiple accent options when needed - Lets you turn PT mode on or off from the extension popup - Lets you customize accept and dismiss keyboard shortcuts - Lets you disable the extension globally or per website - Supports ignored words and custom corrections - Skips sensitive fields such as passwords, emails, URLs, payment fields, and code areas Known limitations: - Google Docs and complex custom editors are not fully supported yet - Ambiguous words are not changed automatically - The dictionary is intentionally conservative to avoid incorrect corrections Acentua is built for privacy-first, predictable Portuguese typing assistance.
