About Accessible Shortcuts: Quickly find forms, contacts, menus, buttons, and other important areas on any web page. Accessible Shortcuts is a free extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that helps keyboard and screen reader users navigate the Web with greater autonomy. Instead of cycling through dozens or hundreds of elements to find a specific piece of information, form, or section, you can create custom shortcuts for the locations you access most, generate smart content summaries, describe images and videos, replace terms, and ask questions using Artificial Intelligence. Key Features: - Create custom shortcuts for any element on the page; - Customize shortcut execution behavior (focus or click on the element); - Smart page summaries using AI; - Identify and accessibly label any page element using artificial intelligence; - Personal dictionary to automatically replace terms and confusing words on web pages; - Automatic media descriptions (images, local videos, direct video links, and YouTube videos); - Accessible video player integrated into the modal, featuring keyboard controls and saved preferences per site (volume, speed, and muting); - Intelligent player control to prevent simultaneous audio playback from previous videos; - Interactive chat to ask questions about pages and media, with automatic history reset when switching media; - Interactive and accessible search filters for shortcut lists and element labels; - Export and import security settings; - Intent-based Navigation Bar (TopBar) at the top of all pages; - Accessible integration with screen readers. With this extension, you can accessibly create shortcuts to focus or click elements on a web page, and use artificial intelligence to describe images and videos, generate smart page summaries, automatically replace confusing terms, and ask questions in real-time through an interactive chat. Accessible Shortcuts Menu: The extension features a dedicated menu called "Accessible Shortcuts", which can be accessed by right-clicking anywhere on the page or by pressing the "Applications" key (or Shift + F10) on your keyboard. Within this menu, you will find all the main features and default shortcuts of the extension, greatly improving quick access to options without having to memorize all key combinations immediately. The menu item has been updated to "Media Description" since it now supports both images and videos. Add a New Shortcut: Simply trigger the add-shortcut command. A sound will play, and you can navigate using Tab or Shift + Tab to focus an element on the page, then press the key combination you wish to set as the shortcut. By default, the shortcut to add a new combination is Alt + Control + Shift + A on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + A on Mac. After running this shortcut, select the element using Tab or Shift + Tab, and press your desired combination. A confirmation dialog will appear: select "Ok" to confirm or "Cancel" to abort. AI Page Summary: To get a smart summary of the current page, use the shortcut Alt + Control + Shift + R on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + R on Mac. The extension will analyze the content and display a summary. The summary is interactive: if there is an important form or button, the link inside the summary will have the suffix "(focus on page)" and, when activated, will move the screen reader's focus directly to the element. If it is an external link, it will indicate "(will open in a new tab)". You will also find a "Generate new summary" button to refresh the page information. Element Labeling and Identification: You can accessibly identify and label any element on a page using Gemini AI. Simply focus on the desired element, open the context menu ("Accessible Shortcuts" -> "Identify and Label Element"). The AI analyzes the element's context and suggests a likely label. You are free to edit it to whatever label you find most appropriate. Labels are saved locally and applied automatically every time the page loads. We have also added a dedicated area in settings where you can manage, filter, edit, or delete your custom labels. Term Replacement Dictionary: With the Replacement Dictionary, you can create rules to automatically swap specific terms in the text of any website (perfect for correcting complex words or confusing abbreviations). The tool can be opened quickly using the keyboard shortcut Alt + Control + Shift + S on Windows, Command + Option + Shift + S on Mac, or via the context menu. You can define the scope of the replacement (whether it affects only the current site or all sites), make it case-sensitive, and choose between whole-word matching or regular expressions (Regex). All created replacements can be edited or removed in settings. Describe Media (Images and Videos): To describe a media file, use the shortcut Alt + Control + Shift + D on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + D on Mac. - Local or Web Images and Videos: You can select an image or video file from your computer, paste a direct video link from the internet, paste a YouTube URL, or use the "Describe media from clipboard" button to analyze a screenshot, image, or link you have copied. - Integrated Accessible Player: When loading a video (including YouTube), an accessible player is displayed in the modal. You can control it easily using keyboard shortcuts when the player is in focus: * Up Arrow / Down Arrow: Increase or decrease the volume; * Left Arrow / Right Arrow: Rewind or fast-forward 5 seconds; * K Key: Play or pause the video; * M Key: Mute or unmute the sound; * < and > Keys (Shift + , and Shift + .): Decrease or increase the playback speed. - Saved Preferences per Site: The extension automatically remembers your volume, playback speed, and mute preferences uniquely for each website/domain where you watch videos. - Overlapping Audio Prevention: To ensure the best auditory experience, the extension cleans up and terminates any active player immediately when new media is loaded, pasted, or when the modal is closed. AI Chat: After generating a summary or describing media, you can ask specific questions about the content. At the bottom of the summary or description window, there will be an input field with the corresponding visible and accessible label ("Ask something about this media"). Type your question and press Enter or click "Ask". The AI's response will appear right under your question and will be read automatically by your screen reader. - Automatic Context Clearing: To avoid mixing conversations or carrying over data from previous media, the media chat history and the analyzed media are fully reset whenever you close the modal or switch the active media (for example, by pasting a new item into the clipboard while the modal is already open). The page summary chat history remains preserved during normal navigation. Intent-based Navigation Bar (TopBar): Located at the top of all visited pages, the accessible intent bar allows you to execute quick actions easily. It offers buttons to quickly trigger the AI summary, describe media, open settings, and send direct feedback, enhancing daily navigation. Settings Page: The default shortcut to access settings is Alt + Control + Shift + C on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + C on Mac. There you can manage all created shortcuts, adjust shortcut execution behavior, manage dictionary replacements, manage element labels, and configure your Gemini API Key. The official website features a simple, accessible step-by-step guide explaining how to obtain your key from Google AI Studio securely. Important Information about Artificial Intelligence: To use the AI features (Summaries, Media Descriptions, Labeling, and Chat), the extension uses the "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. This means you will need to insert your own free Gemini API Key (easily generated in Google AI Studio). This approach ensures you get your own exclusive usage quota with no ads, no shared limits, and the data privacy provided by Gemini. Managing Shortcuts and Behaviors: - Created shortcuts: In the table under the "Created shortcuts" heading, you can view your custom combinations. In the "Action" column, you can delete unwanted shortcuts. You can also define the shortcut behavior ("Default", "Focus", or "Click") individually in the table to determine what the extension will do when the element is triggered. - Default shortcut behavior: In the default behavior section, define whether the extension should focus or click the corresponding element by default. This applies to all combinations set to "Default". - Extension default shortcuts: Under the "Default shortcuts" heading, you can edit the extension's own combinations (such as the summary shortcut or the one to add new items). When you activate "Edit", a sound will play and you must press the new combination. A confirmation dialog will appear before the new combination is registered. Shortcut and Label Filter: To make it easier to navigate through long lists of created shortcuts and labels, we have added a dynamic filter field in the configuration tables. As you type a search term, the table updates in real-time, and the screen reader accessibly and interactively announces the number of filtered results. Export and Import Shortcuts: You can save your custom shortcuts to use on another browser or create a security backup. On the settings page: - Export shortcuts: Activate the "Export shortcuts" button to download a file with the ".as" extension containing all your created combinations. - Import and append shortcuts: Activate this button to select a previously saved shortcut file with the ".as" extension. The extension will add the new shortcuts to your current list without deleting your existing ones.
