Bevara Universal Media

Plays the image, audio and video formats your browser can't, decoding them with WebAssembly accessors from a Bevara filter registry.

Your browser decodes a handful of media formats and ignores the rest. Bevara Universal Media gives it the others. It watches every page you visit for <img>, <audio> and <video> elements, notices the ones your browser cannot decode, and hands them to a WebAssembly decoding pipeline that gives the browser back something it does play — PNG for images, WAV for audio, MP4/H.264 for video. The sites themselves change nothing: the markup stays standard HTML, and the page needs no plugin, no script and no cooperation of any kind. The browser always goes first. A format it might handle is left alone until it actually fails, so nothing is slowed down and nothing is decoded twice. PATENTS ARE NOT DECIDED FOR YOU Media formats carry patents, and this extension does not quietly make that choice on your behalf. Every decoder in the Bevara registry declares a patent status, and by default only those marked royalty-free or expired are used. A format whose decoder is marked licence-required or under-review is left to the browser and reported in the popup, naming the module and the status that stopped it. One checkbox in the options lifts the restriction, if practising those formats is something you are entitled to do in your jurisdiction. OPEN SOURCE, AND AUDITABLE The decoders are the Bevara open-source accessors. Each is published with its licence, its patent status, its source and an Ed25519 signature recorded in an append-only transparency log, so what runs in your browser can be traced back to what was published.
