**🌐 Aar318's Live Translator: Website and Live Chat Translation** Translate website text, selected passages and unsent drafts into your chosen language. Dedicated Twitch, Kick and YouTube chat controls work alongside a compact overlay for other websites. Translation starts off and is enabled by you. **🚀 Getting Started** 1. Install the extension and click its toolbar icon on an ordinary website. Approve website access if prompted; the permission covers websites together. 2. Read the one-time introduction, then use the globe to enable or disable translation. 3. Click or right-click the settings gear to choose languages, translation modes, in-page versus overlay controls, and an overlay corner. Other websites always use the overlay. 4. Focus a text field and click **⇄** to translate its unsent draft, or select a passage and use **Translate selected text**. Controls stay out of the way during fullscreen and supported native overlays. - **Efficient Processing:** Skips very short messages, batches requests, caps translation caches and queues, and protects against stale results after settings changes. - **Navigation Resilience:** Reconnects observers and controls after Twitch, Kick, or YouTube replaces chat containers or navigates without a full reload. **🔐 Permissions & Privacy** **Browser profile sync and preference backups:** Open Backup & Restore from the toolbar context menu or settings. Sync is enabled by default unless you turn it off. Use the same browser account with extension synchronization enabled; If your browser requests optional sync data permissions, approve them in Backup & Restore before transfers begin. Eligible preferences are transferred by the browser's account service; Aar318 does not receive them. This is not cross-browser-vendor synchronization or guaranteed backup retention after uninstall. File exports remain available without an account. Synced snapshots are compressed, not independently encrypted by the extension; do not put secrets in preference fields. Oversized preferences remain local with a visible error. Imports validate the extension and schema, merge included preferences, save a local safety copy, and disable sync until re-enabled. Existing tabs may need a reload. Credentials, saved login sessions, document/chat content, transient state, and notification-delivery history are excluded. Saved lists and other content excluded by the backup page continue to use the extension's existing export tools. Disabling sync preserves local settings; deletion of the synced copy is a separate confirmed action. Other enabled devices can republish a deleted copy. **Alarms:** Schedules delayed preference synchronization without keeping background code running continuously. **Storage:** Retains local preferences, sync state, a local safety copy, and the browser-account preference snapshot. Automatic website translation targets safe text blocks; use selected-text translation for mixed formatting. - The introduction appears on the first explicit control interaction and is remembered across future versions. A fresh installation shows it again. - Incoming translation starts disabled and runs only when the user enables it. - Automatic outbound translation is off by default. Outbound translation replaces an unsent draft but never sends a chat message automatically.
