This Chrome extension uses AI to improve child safety online by scanning web pages in real time for potentially harmful images and text. Based on customizable settings, it detects inappropriate or unsafe content and blocks it before it reaches the user. Parents can adjust which categories of content are filtered and set confidence thresholds for AI decisions. The extension does not store any data sent to the AI, and as much data is stored locally as possible. The only reason it sends data to the server for processing is because it would be too slow and unpredictable to run locally. In addition to content filtering, the extension provides usage statistics that offer insight into browsing patterns. It keeps track when content is blocked and records uptime to show when the extension is active, allowing you to compare it with the child’s browsing activity and reinforce that they haven’t tampered with the extension. This tool is intended to strike a balance between online safety and freedom. It recognizes that no filter is foolproof and encourages collaboration between parents and children to foster responsible internet use. While not designed to be impossible to bypass, the extension is a practical measure to reduce exposure to harmful content, offering protection while maintaining trust and transparency.
