Overview

Get real-time papermill detection

The Papermill Alarm, from Clear Skies, is the world’s leading detector of organised research fraud (also known as ‘papermills’). This browser extension protects researchers by issuing an alert when a user opens a page for any research article with similarities to known papermill-products. The alert provides a simple early warning. We also offer detailed insights to research integrity specialists via our web application. **This is an early release with basic functionality. We invite feedback from users to help develop this service.** Important notes: - The browser extension does not diagnose fraud. It shows when the metadata associated with an article is consistent with papermill-products. Research fraud should only be diagnosed with a thorough investigation by a research integrity specialist. - We balance consistency and flexibility. The extension works by extracting metadata from journal webpages. There are practical limitations to how this can be done, so results found using the browser extension can differ from those found using the Papermill Alarm through a direct agreement with Clear Skies.
