But here is exactly what Tab EQ can and cannot do: - ✅ It receives the audio of a tab only after you click "Enable EQ" on that tab. - ❌ It cannot read the page's text, forms, passwords, cookies, or history. - ❌ It requests no website host permissions and adds no background page access. - ℹ️ On YouTube it reads the channel name of the active tab (via `activeTab`+`scripting`, no warning, no network) so it can remember your EQ per channel - nothing else on the page is used or stored. We deliberately chose tab capture over the "content script" approach that some equalizers use. Content scripts show a friendlier install prompt but actually get full read/write access to every page and break on many sites. Tab capture is the genuinely more private and more reliable design.
