Overview

Reminds you every 20 minutes to look 20 metres away for 20 seconds. A full-screen break that is hard to ignore.

Long hours at a screen leave your eyes dry, tired and sore. Optometrists recommend the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 metres away for 20 seconds. It works. The hard part is remembering to do it. This extension remembers for you. WHAT IT DOES • Counts down your screen time quietly in the background. • When the 20 minutes are up it takes over the whole screen with a calm green break and a 20-second countdown — hard to scroll past, easy to obey. • Six illustrated prompts rotate during the break: where to look, how to blink, when to squeeze your eyes shut, how to rest them under your palms. • A soft chime opens and closes the break, so you can look away from the screen completely and still know when it is over. • Work resumes automatically. Nothing to click. MADE TO FIT YOUR DAY • Set the number of sets, the length of screen time and the length of rest. The 20-20-20 default is only a starting point. • Save your own presets and switch between them in one click. • Do not want a full-screen interruption? Turn it off and keep just the chime and a desktop notification. • Turn the sound off entirely if you work in an open office. • On a multi-monitor setup the break appears on the screen you are actually working on. • Available in 16 languages. PRIVACY — NOTHING LEAVES YOUR COMPUTER This extension cannot see any website you visit. It requests no host permissions and injects no content scripts, so reading a page is not something it is able to do. There is no analytics, no account, no tracking, no server. Your settings and presets are stored locally in your own browser and nowhere else. WHY A FULL-SCREEN BREAK A notification you can dismiss is a notification you will dismiss. The break takes the screen because that is the only reliable way to make you look away from it. You can always skip it with one click or the Esc key, and you can switch it off in the settings if it does not suit the way you work.
