Overview

Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Full-screen break or gentle corner reminder.

Rest your eyes the way eye doctors recommend: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. When you look at a screen, the small muscle that focuses your eye stays tight for hours, and you blink less than usual. That's what causes the tired, dry, heavy feeling at the end of a screen day. A 20-second look into the distance lets that muscle relax and gets you blinking again. Most people forget to do it, so Eye Break reminds you. TWO WAYS TO TAKE A BREAK - Full-screen break: when the 20 minutes are up, the page is covered by a calm screen that counts down 20 seconds for you. Playing videos pause and pick up again afterwards. Switching tabs doesn't get you out of it, and you can turn off the Skip button if you want a strict break. - Corner reminder: a small card slides in at the bottom of the page without interrupting you. Press "Start 20s" to run the countdown, or close it. It shows on the right for English and French, and on the left for Arabic. DETAILS - Knows when you step away: if you lock your screen or leave the computer for 10 minutes, the timer starts over when you come back. - Available in English, Arabic and French. It follows Chrome's language automatically, or you can choose one. - Light and dark themes that match your system. - Click the toolbar icon to see when your next break is, take a break now, or restart the timer. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no ads, no analytics. The extension doesn't send any data anywhere. Your settings are stored in Chrome, and that's all. Eye Break is a reminder tool, not medical advice. If your eyes stay sore, your vision is blurry, or you get regular headaches, see an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
