ZaoNest saves web pages as Markdown notes with local extraction, image saving, full-text search, AI summaries, and export.
ZaoNest Web Clipper is a local-first side panel extension for saving articles, tutorials, references, and research pages into a searchable Markdown library. ZaoNest reads the current page only after your action. You can extract the page locally, adjust the title and Markdown, then save it to the built-in local library, export it as a Markdown file, or send it to an external knowledge-base API that you configure yourself. AI is optional: page content is sent to your configured AI endpoint only when you click the AI button. Key features: - Extract readable page content locally and convert it to Markdown. - Pick a specific page block when automatic extraction is not accurate enough. - Save block-picking rules and reuse them on similar pages from the same site. - Search, preview, back up, restore, and export saved pages in the local library. - Export Markdown files for Obsidian, SiYuan, Logseq, or other note-taking tools. - Built-in SiYuan API adapter, with room for more save targets later. - Optional OpenAI Chat Completions compatible AI summaries and dense extracts. - Supports full AI endpoint URLs - Bilingual interface with a structure ready for more languages. Privacy and safety: - No background crawling. - No cookie access. - No browsing history collection. - No remote scripts or remotely executed code. - API keys, tokens, prompts, and settings stay in local browser extension storage. - Page content is processed locally by default. It is sent only when you explicitly trigger AI processing or save to an external service you configured. Good for: - Turning long articles into Markdown notes. - Building a personal local web archive. - Saving tutorials, discussions, tool lists, and research pages. - Generating AI summaries for important pages. - Sending selected web content to SiYuan or another knowledge base.
