Capture Chinese words and quotes while reading; export daily Markdown notes.

拾语汉字box is a local-first Chinese reading companion. Select Chinese text on a page and save it as a word, phrase, or quote through the context menu, keyboard shortcut, or toolbar popup. The dashboard keeps your collection in local browser storage, shows offline dictionary insight from the bundled CC-CEDICT asset, and exports daily Markdown notes, zip archives, or JSON backups. Saved words include one-click Mandarin pronunciation through Chrome/OS Chinese text-to-speech voices. Pronunciation runs only when the user clicks the speaker button and requires no API key. Quotes are reviewed by cloze deletion. A saved quote starts with no blanks (parked); the user marks which words become blanks, either manually by wrapping an answer in braces or with optional AI suggestions, and each blank becomes its own spaced-repetition card. Organize quotes with tags: add tag chips with autocomplete on each quote card, filter by tag, and browse a frequency-sized tag cloud with rename and delete. AI is optional and disabled by default. If enabled, users bring their own API key and explicitly trigger it — "Ask AI" for a saved word, or "建议填空" to suggest cloze blanks for a quote. Generated word insight is stored locally so each word only needs to be generated once. Optional folder sync keeps your collection in step across browser profiles by writing an encrypted replica to a folder you choose (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Syncthing, a NAS mount, or a local directory). Sync is provider-neutral, local-first, and encrypted with your passphrase; the extension never uses a developer-operated server. Core features: - Save selected Chinese words, phrases, and quotes. - Deduplicate words while preserving source occurrences. - View local dictionary definitions, pinyin tone chips, pronunciation, and source examples. - Tag quotes, filter by tag, and manage tags in a frequency-sized tag cloud. - Review saved words and quotes one card at a time with local spaced-repetition scheduling; quotes are reviewed by cloze deletion, with each blank scheduled as an independent card. - Add cloze blanks to quotes manually (brace markup) or with optional AI suggestions. - Export daily Markdown notes, and back up/restore local data (inbox-only or full backup with settings and AI key). - Optionally sync between browser profiles through an encrypted, provider-neutral folder. - Optionally import a local Kaikki JSONL dictionary fallback. - Optionally use bring-your-own-key AI insight with a supported provider; AI is off by default and runs only when you enable it and trigger an action.
