Overview

Current weather, including the daily and hourly forecasts for any desired location.

Weather Forecast — What's New We've rebuilt Weather Forecast from the ground up. This is the biggest update in the extension's history: a beautiful new design, a far more reliable weather engine, accurate local data, and dozens of fixes that make the everyday experience faster, clearer, and more trustworthy. Here's everything that changed. A brand-new design The popup has been completely redesigned into a clean, modern two-panel layout. A colorful hero panel shows your current conditions at a glance — the temperature, what it feels like, today's high and low, and sunrise and sunset times — while the right side gives you everything else: an hourly strip, a full 7-day outlook with temperature-range bars, and tidy detail cards. The interface uses the elegant Manrope typeface (bundled so it works offline) and an uncluttered layout that is easy to read in a single glance. A more reliable weather engine The biggest change is under the hood. The extension now uses Open-Meteo for all weather data. The old version relied on a single shared key for everyone, which regularly hit rate limits and caused the dreaded "could not fetch the weather" errors. Open-Meteo needs no API key at all, so weather now loads reliably for everyone, every time — no setup, no keys, no shared-quota failures. Accurate location, finally Previously the app often defaulted to London for users everywhere, because browser geolocation does not work inside a toolbar popup. We replaced that with reliable location detection, so the extension now shows weather for where you actually are — and you can always search for any city or save your favorite places. Correct local times Hourly and daily forecasts are now timezone-aware. Times and day boundaries are calculated for the city you are viewing, so an evening forecast no longer rolls into the wrong day and hourly times match the local clock — a subtle but important accuracy fix for anyone checking the weather in other parts of the world. Temperature on your toolbar The extension can now show the current temperature right on the toolbar icon, updated automatically in the background. The refresh-interval setting actually works now — pick 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes and your weather (and the badge) stays up to date without opening anything. Richer, more useful detail We surfaced much more of the data you care about: "feels like" temperature, sunrise and sunset, wind speed and direction, humidity, pressure, visibility, the UV index, and the chance of rain in both the hourly and daily views. The 7-day forecast now includes clear high and low range bars so you can read the week's trend at a glance. Search, favorites, and personalization Search any city in the world and jump straight to its forecast. Save your favorite places and switch between them instantly from the saved-places menu. Prefer Celsius or Fahrenheit? Toggle it anywhere. You can also choose an accent color to make the app your own. Built for everyone The whole interface is now keyboard accessible, with clear focus outlines, screen-reader labels, and Escape to close menus. It is fully localized into more than 40 languages, including right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Persian, and Hebrew, with localized weekday names throughout. Dozens of fixes This release also squashes a long list of bugs that caused real frustration: - Fixed crashes and blank screens that could appear while loading certain forecasts. - Fixed the loading spinner that could spin forever on a slow or dropped connection — requests now time out and recover gracefully. - Corrected the wind unit, which previously showed an incorrect label regardless of your settings, along with the visibility and pressure units. - Fixed temperature rounding so values are consistent across every view. - Made search more robust so unusual city names no longer break the results. - Removed leftover debug code and tidied the interface throughout. Faster, lighter, more private Weather data loads quickly and the fonts are bundled for offline use, so the interface renders instantly even on a slow connection. We also cleaned up the codebase, removed the old shared key, and dropped unused legacy code so the extension is leaner and more trustworthy. We genuinely appreciate everyone who reported issues and left reviews — this update is a direct response to your feedback. The new location detection, the reliable weather engine, the toolbar temperature, and the richer forecasts all came from listening to what you told us was broken or missing. If you run into anything or have an idea, please get in touch. Thank you for using Weather Forecast, and enjoy the new look and the more accurate, more dependable forecasts!
